The challenge was to design an intelligent, sustainable and beautiful house for a "dream site" in San Francisco -- in SketchUp, of course. The reaction to our call for submissions blew us away.<BR><BR>The <A href="http://www.elabs5.com/c.html?rtr=on&s=ljhc,3i6f,s7,1mb8,5ghx,8mnc,ewu9" target=_blank rel=nofollow><FONT color=#003399>winning project</FONT></A> came from Drew Wilgus, an architectural intern at a firm in Raleigh, North Carolina. The <A href="http://www.elabs5.com/c.html?rtr=on&s=ljhc,3i6f,s7,8qst,ha37,8mnc,ewu9" target=_blank rel=nofollow><FONT color=#003399>runners-up</FONT></A> were also impressive, and frankly, so were almost all of the other <A href="http://www.elabs5.com/c.html?rtr=on&s=ljhc,3i6f,s7,ljpr,m2ms,8mnc,ewu9" target=_blank rel=nofollow><FONT color=#003399>130 entries</FONT></A>. Today a new class of <A href="http://www.elabs5.com/c.html?rtr=on&s=ljhc,3i6f,s7,jw1w,jckw,8mnc,ewu9" target=_blank rel=nofollow><FONT color=#003399>3D printing technology</FONT></A> has slashed the time and expense it takes to create a physical model. Our friends at <A href="http://www.elabs5.com/c.html?rtr=on&s=ljhc,3i6f,s7,m4e9,evom,8mnc,ewu9" target=_blank rel=nofollow><FONT color=#003399>CADspan</FONT></A> just released a <A href="http://www.elabs5.com/c.html?rtr=on&s=ljhc,3i6f,s7,f79y,2j43,8mnc,ewu9" target=_blank rel=nofollow><FONT color=#003399>plugin</FONT></A> that allows for the generation of solid, 3D printable files directly from a Google SketchUp model. They create concept art for movies, advertising and game studios, and their work is super-inspiring. They are able to identify errors and inconsistencies that can derail progress. From presenting site logistics to resolving construction details in RFI proposals, DPR uses SketchUp to design and review in 3D. Using LayOut is relatively simple, but there are a few things about it that aren't obvious. One of these relates to creating elements (such as project titles and logos) that need to appear in the same spot on more than one page. Doing so requires that you understand something called shared layers in LayOut. IES是个用于建筑耗能计算的插件,对从事建筑设计的人非常有用。重要的是直接从SketchUp呼叫插件进行计算,有兴趣的朋友可以去下载安装使用。

那个IES VE插件只能调用一个简单的能耗计算模块,参数输入的选项太少,只能得到一个经过换算的耗电量数据和二氧化碳排放量,可靠性较差。真正的IES全套有很多计算模块,是一个全面的建筑物理性能分析软件,可惜卖得很贵,国内只有华东院等几个大院用得起。
